Traveling

While vacationing doesn’t really leave you thinking “working out” or “eating right,” you can make some simple choices to avoid ruining your diet and still have a relaxing and enjoyable break from everyday life. Here are a few tips:

  1. Order salad first. Traveling usually means eating out…a lot…and let’s face it, restaurants don’t exactly serve small portions. So fill up on your greens and veggies before pouncing into that rib eye at the local steak house. It will curb your appetite and still be able to savor enough of the meat you’ve been craving.

  2. Drink lots of water. Before your entrée is served, have at least a glass of water. This will also cut your appetite and help cleanse your insides.

  3. Have your biggest meal be lunch…and save $$$. Many restaurants have nearly the same menu at lunchtime as they do dinner, but at a fraction of the cost. So load up on a nice meal at lunch and then walk it off throughout the day. Not only is this good for your thighs, but it’s also good for your wallet. So you’ll have some extra money to spend on souvenirs.

  4. Cut back on the alcohol. While vacationing is a tempting time to drink like a fish, order wine spritzers or alcohol mixed with club soda to ward off all those liquid calories that do a body no good.

  5. Pack a few workout tools. Tubes, resistance bands, and some water exercise equipment can pack easily and effortlessly. Water aerobics are an excellent way to get in some cardio, then you can simply lounge by the pool.

Just a few effortless decisions can keep your healthy lifestyle in check while enjoying your much deserved vacation.
